  • Additional study i.e. Prince 2, ITIL, CISA, CCNA, CISA, MCPS
  • Specialist software
    • Application - Please list of your level of expertise for each application
      • Java, C++, .Net, ASP, Oracle, SAP, PHP, Sharepoint, etc
    • Financial Services - List the application i.e. Swift, Summit, Rufus, Murex, Bloomberg, Reuters
  • Where appropriate, please outline key achievements including
    • Size of projects, if possible value of project
    • Number of people managed
    • Types of people managed - Developers, Testers, Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Project managers
  • Stay informed on the market - read the IT publications and Newspapers
  • Participate in industry associations - Irish Software Association, Java User Group  
  • Display personal development, good communications skills, analytical thinking, problem solving, positive attitude and a willingness to work on your own and within a team structure

Questions to ask at interview

  • Know the Client - Employers like to see a willingness to join the company from a candidate in the interview - Read their website, know their business, read their press releases, you may know someone that works there - talk to them
  • Before the interview try to find out
    • Is this a new or replacement role
    • What is the size of the team
    • Who will I report into
  • What are the opportunities for growing your career within the organisation?
  • What are the projects they are currently working on?
  • What do they see as their immediate issues?
